Draw Bed Framing

Draw Bed Framing

Drawing a bed frame is an important aspect of illustration to learn if you are going to specialize in interior design. Being able to draw a bed frame can also be important to general illustrators as well as cartoonists. Being able to draw everyday objects always makes your artwork better. This will allow you to get more progress done on your illustrations without having to take time out of drawing to look up reference photos online or in books and magazines. Drawing bed framing can be done with a few simple lines and shapes. For the example in this article, you will be drawing wooden bed framing with large posts on each corner.

Instructions

1. Draw a diagonal line that starts near the bottom left side of the page and heads toward the bottom right-hand corner. Attach a diagonal line to this that heads up towards the upper right-hand corner. Add a vertical line to the left end of the first line. Add a vertical line extending up from the corner where the two diagonal lines meet. Add a longer vertical line at the right end of the second diagonal line. Add a short vertical line in between the right a middle vertical lines. These vertical lines will act as the posts for the bed.

2. Connect the front two vertical lines with an upside down "V" shape. Connect the back two vertical lines with an upside down "V." Add a diagonal between the upper and lower right side posts.

3. Draw a horizontal line starting two-thirds of the way up the bottom left post and continuing to the middle of the top right post. Add pillows with small squares between the upper left and right posts.

4. Add cones to the top of each of the posts. Add a circle under each post. Draw a large triangle on the foot and head of the bed to create the wood carving. At the head of the bed add two curved parallel lines in "U" shapes to the left and right side of the triangle.

5. Erase the overlapping guidelines. Ink the entire illustrations. Let the ink dry and carefully erase the pencil lines.

6. Color the posts and head and foot of the bed frame brown. Color the top half of the mattress baby blue, add a band of red and color the bottom half of the mattress dark blue. Color the pillows dark blue.
