Do Henna Tattoos At Home

Henna tattoos will fade quicker on the hands, because they come into contact with water frequently.

Henna tattoos are made from natural ingredients and are temporary. They typically last for 7 to 21 days and fade gradually. There are a number of tradition designs, but people can create their own. Indian henna tattoos look similar to lace in design, but Egyptian designs feature images of dragons and snakes. Henna tattoos can be applied to any part of the skin, but last longer when not frequently exposed to water.

Instructions

1. Find a pattern for your tattoo. Look online or design one yourself. Make sure you have a clear image and print a hard copy of it. Practice copying the design on paper until you become used to drawing it freehand.

2. Wash your skin with soap and water to remove any impurities and oil. The henna will last longer if it's applied to clean skin. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.

3. Unscrew the henna tube cap, and pierce the end with a needle if sealed. Copy your design onto the skin, using the henna tube like a pen. Quickly wipe off any mistakes or excess with a damp cotton pad and dry the area before continuing. Work slowly to maintain control.

4. Leave the henna to dry for at least half an hour. The longer you leave it, the longer it will last. Be careful not to smudge the henna or go near water while it's drying. It will begin to harden and crack as it sets, but this is normal.

5. Peel off the hardened henna. This will stain fabric, so do this over some paper and throw the crust away. The henna will have been absorbed into your skin, leaving the design.
