Download A Video Stream From Websites

Download streaming video to your computer.

Streaming videos are animations, movies or clips that are watched directly from a server and do not require downloading to view them. These types of videos include clips found on YouTube, Hulu and Metacafe. When you open a streaming video, it will buffer for a brief period and eventually play. Although these files do not require downloading to enjoy them, it is possible to capture streaming video from the Internet. This is done by using a video capturing website.

Instructions

1. Open your Web browser and go to a streaming video capture site such as KeepVid.com or Javimoya.com.

2. Press "Ctrl" and "T" on your keyboard to open a new tab in your Web browser. Or go to "File," "New," "Tab." Click on the new tab to open a blank browser screen.

3. Navigate to the streaming video you would like to download. For example, go to YouTube.com or Metacafe.com and search for a video, then bring it up in the browser window.

4. Double-click on the URL of the streaming video to highlight it. Or click and hold at the end of the URL address and drag the cursor all the way to the beginning of the URL.

5. Press "Ctrl" and "C" on your keyboard to copy the URL. Navigate to the streaming video capture site in the other tab in your browser.

6. Click on the "Video URL" or "URL" bar on the website. Press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste the URL you copied into the bar. Click on the "Download" or "Go" button or press "Enter."

7. Click on "Run" if a Security Warning dialog box appears to verify that you want to run the capturing application. Wait a few moments for the download link to appear.

8. Click on the download link in the size or quality you desire to begin downloading the video to your computer. Most video capturing websites offer downloads in low, medium and high quality. Click "Save File" when the dialog box appears.
