Make Artwork With Tissue Paper

Make a tissue paper fish.

Tissue paper is a good medium for teaching art to children and adults. Transform lightweight tissue paper into different shapes like roses or fish. Larger tissue paper projects are pinatas. Start your tissue paper crafting with an easy-to-do tissue paper fish. Make several to hang on a child's mobile or let it swim solo on the refrigerator. All your artwork should showcase your creativity, so add your own touches. Your paper creation does not have to be perfect, just aptly representing your ideas.

Instructions

1. Place your fish template on top of a sheet of blue construction paper. Outline the fish template with a pencil.

2. Cut out the construction paper fish template with scissors. Lay the fish template on a plastic place mat to protect your work area.

3. Tear or cut 1-inch pieces from the tissue paper. Use a variety of colors to make your tissue paper fish more colorful. You will use the tissue paper pieces for scales.

4. Draw a half circle to make the fish's head. The fish head should be about 1/3 of the fish's body. The half circle should arc toward the fish's lips.

5. Glue tissue paper pieces along the line you have drawn. Then glue another line of tissue paper pieces behind that one. Mix up the colors to make your fish vibrant.

6. Cut fish scale pieces from the aluminum foil with scissors. Place one piece of aluminum foil in each row of scales or every other row of fish scales and attach it with glue.

7. Cut a fin shape from the tissue paper. Fold the tissue paper accordion style. Glue the fin to the center of the fish about 2 inches from the head.

8. Peel the adhesive backing from the stick-on stone. Place it on the fish head for the fish's eye.
