Make An Avatar On Xbox

The Xbox 360 introduced avatars as part of the New Xbox Experience.

The New Xbox Experience, introduced to the Xbox 360 gaming console in 2008, added new features to the Xbox 360's dashboard menu, including Xbox avatars. Serving as the on-screen representation of an Xbox profile owner, an avatar's appearance can be customized using components on the console as well as avatar items purchased through Xbox Live. Integrated in the Xbox profile setup process, avatar creation is an intuitive process that allows gamers the ability to create a virtual personality to display on their console and on Xbox Live. In addition, a number of Xbox Live Arcade titles, such as "UNO" and "A Kingdom for Keflings," allow for the use of avatars as playable characters.
