There is proper etiquette for hanging a U.S. flag on a wall.
The U.S. flag is a sacred and respected symbol of the American people's freedom and liberty. There is a certain etiquette for hanging the flag on a pole outside, as well as inside on the wall. Hanging the flag improperly can seriously offend some. Always pay attention to the flag's condition, as well: Never hang a dirty or worn flag. Replace the flag when necessary and take the old flag to a local veteran's society for proper disposal.
Instructions
1. Hang the flag on the wall using hooks slotted into the hook holes in the flag. Find a flag that was manufactured with hook holes instead of ripping holes in the flag yourself.
2. Hang the flag with the union--the blue portion with stars--in the upper left hand corner. The flag should be hung this way whether displayed horizontally or vertically.
3. Place the flag in a location that is prominent over all other flags in the room. It should be hung the highest. Hang any other country's flags at the same height as the U.S. flag if the two nations are at peace.
